2 words 1 minute... Winter Olympics

During the winter olympics there where 11 countries participating. They used different kind of equipments to use for sports.they train extremely hard and learn new skills and technique. the ice hockey team  has a puck that is used for playing on ice even the hockey stick. The opening/closing ceremonies shows all showing respect  11 countries who competed in the winter games for 2018 it was first held in south
korea/north korea and pyeongchang.

Today we used the ‘2 words 1 minute’ challenge to write a description about the Winter Olympics.
After talking in pairs about the things we knew about the winter Olympics we created a list of words
(vocabulary) that would help us write our description. We chose the words ‘equipment’ and ‘respect’
to help us think about what we were going to write.

We talked about ideas with a partner, then we had 1 minute to put those ideas into sentences.
We had to try our best to use all the words on our vocab list. After the minute was up we had 2
minutes to reread what we had written and make changes if anything didn’t make sense,
or if we had words and punctuation in the wrong place. When we finished checking we had 2
more minutes to carry on writing our descriptions.

All the word I highlighted in my paragraph are the words I used on my word list. Today I did really well using the words on my word list. I need to remember that names of people and places begin with a capital letter.

Where is PyeongChang?

I created a DLO that shows how far away Pyeongchang is far away from New Zealand. I now know that Pyeongchang is in South Korea. South Korea is a country near Japan and China. One fact i Found about interesting is that North Korea and South Korea are both countries in Korea but the people live very different lives.

Remembering Summer

I heard the wind whistling past my ears. I heard people scream each time a new wave kissed their faces. I saw helicopter fly over us, we must have looked like ants from up there. I felt the wave push against me, it was stronger than me. I felt cold when the water touch my skin. I wondered how far I could swim? I wondered if I had enough energy to get back?

Today we used different language features to help us describe an event from our summer holidays. I have used my words to show rather than tell you what was happening. Can you work out where I was and what I was doing?
